"The Little Black Firehouse" Featured in New York Magazine Article
The Empire Engine Firehouse project in Boerum Hill was featured in a New York Magazine article written by Wendy Goodman, with photographs by Joshua McHugh. The article, entitled “The Little Black Firehouse”.
“The history of this Boerum Hill renovation starts with the Civil War and ends with a rooftop archery range and soaking tub” is the introductory line of the article. A video tour of the building can be found at the end of the article.
The project was the result of the collaboration between Julian LaVerdiere and Erica Hohf, owners and designers and Dameron Architects. The transformation of the mid-19th-century Empire Engine 19 firehouse was carefully curated to amplify the history of the place.
